We will share tools for nurturing ourselves when it feels like there’s not enough time or help. \nPart 1: Understand what happens in the brain and body when our body reacts to stress as though it’s threatened\, and what to do about it. We’ll start by looking at ourselves and how we respond to our kids. DESCRIPTION:Learn ways to respond in the moment as well as get ahead of overwhelming emotions. This two-part parenting workshop will use the work of Dr. Mona Delahooke’s “Brain Body Parenting” to help us understand what is happening in our child’s brain and body during overwhelming emotions. We will then explore how to check in with ourselves and practice ways to both calm our children and ourselves through co-regulation\, and to build our children’s emotional resilience. \nMay 13 & 27 \nFamily dinner at 4:30 pm\, class from 5:30 to 7:30 pm\nChildcare provided by KidRoots Children’s Program\nRegistration required\, go to youngrootsoregon.org/events \nLearn & earn\nThere is an incentivized opportunity to earn $40 per family for learning. \nThis is a free\, all-inclusive class for young parents from their teen years to age 24.
