Age
Young Roots Oregon is a culturally specific organization for teen parents through age 24, but if a partner/co-parent is older than 24 years old, they may attend courses and events as we believe in empowering the family unit as a whole.
Course Capacity
Each course has a capacity of 20 parents and 15 children in childcare but YRO will hold a waiting list.
Learn & Earn
We have a “Learn & Earn” initiative that pays parents $15 per hour for most courses throughout the year! We believe your time is valuable and the work a parent does to grow and change generational cycles is extremely valuable!
Note: The earned incentives are not counted as earned income by Self Sufficiency and will not affect anyone receiving TANF or SNAP benefits.
High School Elective Credit
If you are a high school student who is pregnant or parenting, you are eligible to earn elective credit by attending parenting classes. A mentor will help you to navigate that accreditation with your counselor.
Support
All classes include a family meal and are supported by the KidRoots Children’s Program team providing on-site childcare.
